What inspired you to become an Attorney Ad Litem volunteer with Crossroads For Florida Kids?   

I was inspired to become an Attorney Ad Litem volunteer with Crossroads for Florida Kids because I believe every child deserves to have someone in their corner who is focused on their voice, their rights, and their future. As attorneys, we are trained to advocate, problem-solve, and navigate systems that can be overwhelming even for adults. For children, especially those going through difficult circumstances, having an attorney who can listen, explain, and advocate for them can make a meaningful difference.

Can you share a meaningful moment or experience from your time as a volunteer that has stayed with you? (No identifying details needed).

One experience that has stayed with me is realizing how much it matters simply to show up consistently for a child. Sometimes the legal issue itself is important, but just as important is the child knowing that someone is listening, taking their concerns seriously, and making sure they are not forgotten in the process. That reminder has stayed with me because it shows that advocacy is not always about a dramatic courtroom moment. Sometimes it is about being present.

What would you say to someone considering becoming an Attorney Ad Litem volunteer?

I would say: do it. The work is meaningful, the need is real, and your legal skills can have a direct impact on a child’s life. You do not have to know everything before you start. What matters most is a willingness to listen, learn, and advocate. It is one of the most rewarding ways to use your law license in service of others.

What’s a small opinion you will defend with your whole heart (best French fry shape, best pen, is a hotdog a sandwich, etc.)?
