On May 7, 2026, the 19th Annual Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Service Awards honored Hillsborough County lawyers, law firms, paralegals, and organizations for their 2025 pro bono contributions. Crossroads For Florida Kids reported 2,903 pro bono hours last year, with 40 volunteers recognized for contributing 20 or more hours. It’s a number we’re proud of, but even more so, it’s a reflection of the people who continue to show up for our clients.

This year, three Crossroads nominations were selected for awards, each representing the kind of advocacy that defines our mission.

Richard J. Anderson, II of Anderson Trial Law received the Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Young Lawyer award. Many of you may remember the story we shared in December about one of his Juvenile Mental Health Court representations — In His Corner: The Power of Advocacy and Empathy. That case showed the steadiness and heart he brings to every young person he serves. This recognition reflects that work, and the many other ways he stands up for our clients.

Jessica Figueroa of Paul L. Figueroa Law P.A. received the Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Paralegal award. Jessica is one of those people whose work is felt long before it’s seen — the kind of behindthescenes support that keeps vulnerable youth from falling through the cracks. Her dedication is quiet, consistent, and deeply impactful, and this award is a wellearned acknowledgment of that.

Carlton Fields, P.A. received the Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm award. Their relationship with Crossroads spans years: a steady stream of skilled attorneys taking on cases, and annual sponsorship that helps us keep this mission moving forward. Their commitment is both broad and personal, and it shows in the way they continue to stand with the young people of Hillsborough County.

Congratulations to Richard, Jessica, and the entire Carlton Fields team.

And to every Crossroads volunteer who contributed pro bono hours this year: thank you. These awards highlight three remarkable advocates, but they also reflect the strength of our entire volunteer community. Your time, your expertise, and your willingness to show up for kids who need someone in their corner — that’s what makes this work possible.
