Crossroads in the Community: February 2026

Crossroads in the Community Collage2_February 2026

February has been a vibrant month for Crossroads, filled with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and share our mission with the Tampa Bay legal community.

Just after our last newsletter went out, we hosted our first AAL Quarterly Social of the year on January 29th at Magnanimous Brewing. Because all our AALs are Life Savers, we put their skills to the test with a Life Savers guessing game. Congratulations to our newest AAL, Dylan Finucan, who took home the top prize — proving not only to be an outstanding addition to the Crossroads team, but also surprisingly gifted at estimating the number of candies in a mysteriously sized jar. Carol Hinds and Daniela Mendez rounded out the leaderboard with impressive guesses of their own.

On February 6th, Crossroads was invited to speak at the 8th Annual Environmental Land Use & Eminent Domain (ELUED) Conference, where attendees and sponsors contributed to Crossroads as the beneficiary of their pro bono fundraiser. On February 10th, Crossroads attended the Scouting Forward Recognition Breakfast, which honors leaders and organizations bringing Scouting to communities in need and celebrates ScoutReach, the Counsel’s initiative expanding opportunities for underserved youth. On February 12th, Crossroads was well represented at the HCBA Senior Counsel Section Luncheon featuring Hillsborough County Public Defender Lisa McLean discussing practices and procedures of the Public Defender’s Office.

On February 13th, Crossroads proudly sponsored the Asian Pacific American Bar Association Lunar New Year Gala & Board Installation Dinner, celebrating with many local lawyers and judges. A few days later, on February 19th, we attended the HCBA Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Karaoke Happy Hour — and while stories may circulate, whether our Executive Director sang Bohemian Rhapsody remains known only to those who were there.

We’re closing out the month with two final engagements: speaking to future advocates at the Child Advocates of Stetson Law meeting on February 26th, and sponsoring both the 17th Annual HCBA 5K Pro Bono River Run and the 22nd Annual HCBA Judicial Food Festival on February 28th. We’ll be hosting a booth, sharing a gourmet treat courtesy of Signature Popcorn, and connecting with many of the dedicated lawyers and judges who strengthen our legal community.

Crossroads is grateful for every invitation, every partnership, and every opportunity to share our mission. Together, we continue building a community where every child has a champion.
